We had some Kohl's cash to use, so tonight after we went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to get our canning supplies, we dropped in. I perused the clothing and didn't find anything great so I went back to the cookware. I looked at some bar towels, but I have too many already. I looked at what I thought was all of the clearance and I didn't find anything great. I felt pretty defeated, because I can always find something good on sale. On our way out of the section I found another small rack, some veggie peelers, a pizza cutter, a few knives, all were great deals but nothing that I needed. I turned the corner, and what was on the bottom shelf made my heart skip a beat. A tomato red 5 quart enamel cast iron dutch oven by Food Network . While it is no Le Creuset, it is still beautiful and so heavy I can barely lift it. The regular price is 99.99. It was on sale for 39.99 and with $10 Kohl's cash I got it for 29.99. Not bad for an item that I will have for the rest of my life and be able to pass down to the boys.
I used to spend Saturday mornings as a kid watching Julia Child and Jacques Pepin instead of cartoons. I have spent the last 8 years trying to fill my kitchen with the tools necessary to cook amazing meals for my family. They don't have to be complicated but I want them to be healthful and delicious. I also want my children to learn the joy and satisfaction that comes from cooking a wonderful meal for the people that you love. Joey already has a passion for cooking so we are off to a good start.
I used to love watching Julia Child...and Jeff Smith, the "frugal gourmet." We only got a PBS station as a kid...and it was a good thing. Cooking and baking AND then eating...make me happy!!!
